Teaching

Since taking on her first student in 1992, Gianetta Baril has become passionate about sharing her experience and love of the harp with the next generation of musicians and music lovers. Her goal, by focusing on a warm, rich tone and a solid, relaxed technique, is to enable each student to express their individual musicality. Gianetta's greatest enjoyment comes from seeing a love similar to her own being instilled in students of this most beautiful and harmonious of instruments.  IMG_2012in Rio with my good friend and colleague Cristina Braga and my assistant Rafael Eveno A passionate teacher, Gianetta Baril has been on the faculty at both Mount Royal University Conservatory and the University of Calgary since 2003. Her students consistently receive highest awards in competitions and Royal Conservatory examinations and many have carried on to professional careers. Gianetta also enjoys working with adults who have followed their dream of playing the harp, beginning this beautiful instrument later in their lives. Eager to help each student reach their goals, Gianetta takes an individual approach based on age, musical background etc. to tailor a study programme which best meets their needs.

In demand as a teacher in Canada and South America, Gianetta also teaches many students via Skype Gianetta.barilskypeallowing even more opportunity to pass on the legacy of her own teacher Judy Loman.
